To borrow a common bit of programming jargon that I read in a book once:
This is to be the official blog of Mangrove, the undergraduate literary journal of the University of Miami. Here you will find information about the journal’s deadlines, updates about what we’re up to during the year, and other fun goodies such as reviews, exercises, tracts on the state of contemporary poetry, etc., so I hope you’ll check back often!
Aside from a general welcome, I’d like to mention some of what’s going on with the journal as we enter yet another academic year:
I’m excited to announce that Mangrove is going national! That’s right! This year we’re opening up submissions to undergraduate students from around the country, and everyone on staff (myself included!) is excited to read and check out the best fiction, poetry, non-fiction, art, and design our fellow undergraduates have to offer.
I’d also like to announce that this year our reading period for submission to be put in the 2011-2012 print journal will be from September 15 – December 15, 2011.
Finally, you can now follow Mangrove on our new Facebook page (Mangrove Literary Journal) and on Twitter (@mangrovejournal).
